10 More Frustrating Star Trek Moments

8. The Return Of The Ferengi

Fans were really upset with the redesign of the Klingons in season one of Star Trek: Discovery. They were now hairless for some reason, had giant heads, and looked more like generic reptilian aliens from any other sci-fi show. Some of these changes were rolled back in the second season, for example, their hair came back and it was explained that Klingon warriors sometimes shave their heads in times of war (something that we strangely didn't see much during the Dominion War), but the Klingons in Lower Decks were much closer to what we're used to. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the show to unnecessarily change another classic alien species in the franchise.

Season four of Discovery gave us a few scenes with Ferengi who all looked incredibly weird. The old Ferengi had much smoother features and skin (apart from the oldest ones like Zek) and, much like with the Klingons in season one, it seems like they over-texturised the design and made it look much more reptilian, pointed, and wrinkled.

No one wanted a redesign of the Ferengi, and it's truly baffling that Discovery decided to do it even after the backlash they got from the Klingons. Also like the Klingons though, the Lower Decks Ferengi still look normal, so hopefully we'll get to see the original design in live-action again soon.
