10 More Rick & Morty Fan Theories That Change Everything
3. The Real Reason Rick Is So Smart
From the very first episode of Rick and Morty, where the former took his grandson out on a drunken ride in his spaceship, it has been clear that Rick is one of the smartest men in the entire universe. The finale of season five confirmed that he is in fact, by design, THE smartest man in every universe within the Central Finite Curve.
However, there is also a potential clue in that same first episode as to how he became and remains the smartest man in the universe. According to this theory, Rick doesn’t just rely on his own genius.
In the pilot episode, Rick takes Morty to get some Mega Seeds from the Mega Trees that are very important for his work. He never specifies why, but after Morty ingested some of them there was an interesting side effect shown. For a brief time, Morty became insanely intelligent before the effects wore off into an incredibly painful hangover. Could it be that these seeds are what make Rick so smart?
He said they were important, they would certainly make him super-intelligent, and he would avoid the after-effects if he simply kept a constant stream of the stuff coming into his body say, from a hip flask. Yes, Rick may be an alcoholic as well, but it might just be that his flask is full of liquid Mega Seeds, not liquor.
