Sam never got home. That's all you need to know about the reason for potentially bringing back Quantum Leap. Sam never got home. If you didn't watch Quantum Leap, then know that it was very much a product of its time (it began airing in 1989), with lead Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) lost in spacetime "leaping" from body to body throughout history to correct wrongs, hoping at some point to jump back into his own time (and body). After five seasons, he didn't - instead, the ending had a bit of a bizarre Wizard of Oz twist where Sam is told that he can always leap home if he wants to - yet he never does. While it wasn't a tragic ending and viewers were at least assured that Sam would eventually find his way back, it wasn't the ending the show deserved - and for that reason, a final couple of episodes, even with Sam having aged considerably, would be well worth it.
