10 More TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

9. Saved By The Bell

Another reboot which invited immense skepticism from its fanbase was Saved by the Bell, which attempted to at once reinvent the show for a new generation while providing requisite fan service by including its legacy cast.

Expectations were incredibly low prior to its 2020 premiere, yet Saved by the Bell went on to receive strong reviews for its self-aware tone and diverse, inclusive cast.

Its first season was Peacock's most-watched original series at the time of its airing, and with season two going on to receive even stronger reviews the show's future seemed very much secure.

Yet mere weeks after it won Outstanding Comedy Series at the GLAAD Media Awards, Peacock announced that it had been cancelled and wouldn't be returning for a third season.

No official reason has been given, though it has been suggested that there was either a sharp ratings decline for season two, or it was a casualty of recent managerial changes at Peacock, with incoming personnel preferring to focus on buzzier shows.

Either way, it's a sad fate for a series that defied understandably meagre hopes to deliver a smart, reverent retooling of an iconic - yet dated - classic franchise.
