5. Forever Alone - Mask Of The Phantasm
While we always liked to see Bruce Wayne as an emotional recluse, Mask of the Phantasm did ask one question: what if he found happiness?
Amid the modern day version of the Bat, we keep flashing back to Bruce training to become Batman. However, things start to get a bit sidetracked when he starts falling for a girl named Andrea, who actually seems to be pulling him out of his emotional cocoon.
What's even more gut punching is that Bruce can't even accept it... going so far as to plead and beg in front of his parent's grave so he doesn't have to be Batman.
Even though it might come off a touch melodramatic to some, the image of a broken man crying in front of his loved ones' grave because he didn't plan on being happy could move any jaded man to tears.
Since the relationship eventually fizzled out with Andrea as well, you have to wonder whether Bruce feels that his life of crimefighting is also a curse.
