10 Most Adult Moments In Batman: The Animated Series

4. Harley's Abuse - Mad Love

One of the greatest achievements that the animated series made was the introduction of Harley Quinn. Although many people might think she got her start in the comics, the Joker's main partner in crime actually got her start on the show and has become a fan favorite ever since.

That's not to say that her origin was necessarily the happiest though.

During the show's last run in season four, the episode "Mad Love" shows how Ms. Quinzel came to be, originally working as a psychiatrist in Arkham, where she was given the unenviable task of having the Joker as her patient.

While you do get some great scenes of Mr. J pouring out his background, his power to manipulate her into losing her mind and becoming his sidekick might be one of the most despicable things he's ever done.

When we flash forward to present day though, the happy couple that we see getting up to shenanigans is not quite so happy, with a full on domestic abuse incident taking place in the climax, resulting in Joker throwing Harley out a window for going above and beyond to try to impress him.
