10 Most Brutal Acts Of Revenge In Star Trek

9. Voyager - Equinox

Kathryn Janeway was one of the most steadfast, resolute Captains in Trek's entire franchise. Her entire arc begins and ends with the search for home - keeping her crew safe, as happy as possible and on the right track. She excels at this, to the point where it almost overtakes her reasoning from time to time.

When Voyager encounters the Equinox, she sees a mirror of herself in Captain Ransom. Here is another captain who has done whatever it took to keep his crew safe. Only, he hasn't allowed morality to stand in the way - something she herself has held on to throughout her journey.

She begins a hunt like none she had ever displayed before. No weapon is off limits as she attempts to stop the Equinox from escaping. With the ships phasers, she inflicts heavy damage on the other vessel. She captures several of their crew and locks them in a room, unprotected from the retribution of the aliens they had murdered for fuel. It is only the intervention of Chakotay that saves the men from certain death.

Janeway has fallen down the rabbit hole here - while she claims she is only attempting to intimidate the men into revealing secrets on the Equinox, her clear anger toward Chakotay suggests she may not have ever pulled back from the edge. It takes Ransom, her counterpart and the target of her rage, to sacrifice himself before she is able to step back. This is the darkest moment of Janeway's journey and it was targeted at other Starfleet officers.
