10 Most Controversial Changes Made In Arrowverse Shows

8. Barry Allen And Iris West Growing Up Together

In the comics, Barry Allen and Iris West are soulmates. In the Flash TV series, they are also soulmates. However, there was one significant change about the dynamic between the pair - one that caught some fans a little off-guard.

While the comic books have the pair eventually coming across each other in their professions and falling in love, the show rewrote that dynamic altogether. Here, following the murder of Barry's mother, the future-speedster is taken in by Joe West - the father of his high school crush Iris. And that meant that he spent his childhood growing up with the woman he loved.

Now, while many are quick to point out that the idea of Barry loving his 'sister' is wrong, that's a completely ludicrious point. The show has been very clear in its bid to remind us that Barry was in love with Iris long before he ended up living with her and never once did he see her as his sibling. And on top of that, he was never officially adopted by the West family.

Barry and Iris were always destined to be together and The Flash's writers deserve major credit for, unlike Arrow, trying something different with these comic book characters and still staying the course.
