10 Most Controversial Changes Made In Arrowverse Shows

5. Oliver Queen Dies In Crisis On Infinite Earths (Instead Of Barry Allen)

Crisis On Infinite Earths is, without question, the most game-changing event to ever take place within the pages of DC Comics. It single-handedly changed the face of the company, merged universes and killed off The Flash himself, Barry Allen. So when the first season of The Flash began teasing the arrival of Crisis, it looked as if the Scarlet Speedster's show had an endgame in sight.

However, flash-forward five years and throw in a bit of timeline-meddling while you're at it and Crisis On Infinite Earths came to life in the form of last year's Arrowverse crossover between Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman and Black Lightning. And even though the sixth season of The Flash had us all believing that the comic book fate would come to pass, it was the Green Arrow himself, Oliver Queen (and The Flash of Earth-90) who ultimately sacrificed himself.

Some fans took issue with the fact that the characters of Arrow had been handed The Flash's long-teased storyline on a silver platter, but in all honesty, it worked. No, it really worked.

With Arrow bowing out, the-powers-that-be needed a convincing method of bringing Oliver Queen's story to a close, so what better way of proving himself to be the father of the Arrowverse than by sacrificing himself and literally creating the Arrowverse in the process?
