The Winterfell plotline in Season 7 was poor. With the exception of some decent character development for Sansa, this entire storyline felt like a waste of time.

Given that Littlefinger was the most intelligent character in the show (with the possible exception of Varys), it made no sense for him to be mentally ousted by Arya and Sansa. Though the latter had improved massively in terms of her political astuteness, it was still a stretch too far for her to outsmart Littlefinger.

In fact, Littlefinger was someone who shouldn’t have died at all. Despite his questionable morals, he was always several steps ahead of his opponents. Not only was his death disappointing, therefore, it should never have happened.
