10 Most Disturbing Stargate Moments

7. The Ori Fleet Arrives

The Battle of P3Y-229 was the culmination of Stargate SG-1's ninth season and it went out with many literal bangs. The treat of the Ori had been growing steadily for the year, with several encounters assuring the humans that in a frontal assault, the Ori were very much at the advantage.

The Ori had attempted to construct a 'supergate' in the Milky Way galaxy. This would serve as an enormous version of a regular Stargate, one capable of sending ships through. Though the earlier attempt was thwarted by SG-1, the second attempt worked perfectly.

Despite the best efforts of Colonel Carter and the Asgard Kvasir, the Ori were able to activate the gate and send their ships through. They were met with two Earth vessels - the Odyssey and the brand new, Russian controlled Korolev, along with an Asgard vessel and several Ha'tak vessels of the free Jaffa nation. Early into the battle, several more Ha'tak vessels, controlled by the Lucian Alliance, arrive to join the fight.

It is a slaughter. The Ori vessels easily overpower the alliance, destroying most of the vessels present. The Odyssey and one of the Lucian Alliance vessels are the only survivors of the attack, leaving the season on a devastating note and leaving the audience in no doubt as to the threat posed by the Ori going into the tenth and final season.
