10 Most Divisive Star Trek Moments

1. Did Janeway Murder Tuvix?

Star Trek Tuvix

This is an argument that harkens back to the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few. When Neelix and Tuvok are accidentally spliced together in a transporter accident, they are fused into one new, entirely sentient, being.

Tuvix, love him or hate him, was a real, living and breathing person. He feels, he bleeds, he laughs and he cries.

Janeway's decision to put him back through the transporter, in order to bring Tuvok and Neelix back. But, it does mean ending Tuvix's existence.

Janeway has something of an impossible decision. Who deserves to live? Tuvix has committed no crime, yet Tuvok and Neelix are members of the crew with friends and family. What makes the decision even more agonizing is that no one stands up for Tuvix. Only the Doctor refuses to inject Tuvix with the required isotopes to complete the procedure.

It is a very difficult one to come down on, on either side. The decision is both right and wrong.
