9. Family's All That Matters
One of the running stories throughout the entire time The Big Bang Theory has been on our screens is that Howard's father Sam has had rarely any contact with his son after walking out on him and his mother when Howard was 11. We never saw his face, but that doesn't mean his presence wasn't felt.
In the season six episode "The Closet Reconfiguration", Howard spends time cleaning out the closet in his and Bernadette's bedroom, later giving the task to Sheldon thanks to his obsession with having things organised. While doing this though, Sheldon finds a letter from Howard's father, a letter that Howard had received for his eighteenth birthday but never opened.
His friends made a plan to tell Howard different stories that could've been inside the letter, with Penny's proving to be true when she told him that his father's other life had caught up with him, and that he had to leave in order to keep Howard and his mother safe. Upon hearing this, Howard was visibly emotional, but became his typical upbeat self once more by the end of the episode now that he finally knew what was inside the letter.
Even though he left, Howard's father was still proud of his son.
