10 Most Emotional Community Episodes

Season 3's Virtual Systems Analysis takes place almost entirely inside of Abed's dreamatorium. As such, the episode digs deeply into Abed's thought process, leading to some emotional moments.

When Annie tries to set Troy and Britta up on a date, she and Abed venture into the dreamatorium, but Abed's heart is not in it, as he believes that Annie has messed with the group's dynamic. Abed then reveals to Annie that he has a complicated process to simulate what would happen in various scenarios within the group. When Annie complicates that process by adding in other people's feelings to the mix, Abed goes rogue, and the two chase each other through Abed's dream world.

When Annie finds Abed in an imaginary locker, he tells her that he fears that the group will soon push him aside. Annie then explains that Abed's simulations aren't always accurate, and that the group will always love him, no matter what.

This scene is touching since it delves into some of Abed's deepest insecurities. He worries that he cannot fit in with anyone, even a group that's shown nothing but love towards him for three years, and he fears the uncertainty of life, hence his need to try and script it. When Annie reassures Abed and they make up, it's an emotional moment, since both Abed and the audience learn that his fears are unfounded.
