10 Most Emotional Moments On The Walking Dead
6. Merle's Suicide Mission
We didn’t really get enough of Merle Dixon on the show. Daryl’s bro made a lasting impression from his short appearance in season one, but after a couple of episodes he essentially disappeared until season three.
He was a bad dude for sure, but he was also a lot of fun, and it turns out he did have a heart under that surly exterior. When he switches sides to Rick’s gang he feels out of place, like he doesn’t deserve to be with the good guys after doing so much wrong. Deciding he can’t be redeemed he sets out on a suicide mission to take down The Governor, which could prevent a brewing war between the two factions.
He gets frustratingly close to achieving his goal too, but winds up dead at The Governor’s hands. Character development on the show can be a little choppy, so seeing Merle get a proper arc was good stuff.
