There are a lot of excellent sitcoms around at the moment, but perhaps none have the same amount of heart as New Girl. That's not to say it isn't hilarious as well, because it definitely is, but the Zooey Deschanel starring show isn't just a joke machine, instead perfectly blending its humour with a lot of emotion in the best way since perhaps peak How I Met Your Mother. This reaches its crescendo in the Season 4 finale, when after a long-period of being off-and-on, just being friends and wanting to be more than that (yes, it is a little bit Ross and Rachel, but Schmidt's character is so ridiuclous (in the best possible way) that it feels different and fresh enough), Schmidt asks Cece to marry him. And of course she said yes. It happened pretty suddenly, but really that's the best way it could have happened, and meant that Season 4 went out on a great emotional high-note. Now if Season 5 could hurry up and get here that'd be even better.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
