10 Most Gratifying Star Trek Deaths
1. Gowron
Gowron is a self-serving politician cosplaying as a warrior. Worf has covered up many of his dishonorable deeds for the good of the empire and been repaid with scorn. But every warrior has his limit.
Gowron, fearing that General Martok’s popularity during the Dominion War might threaten his political power, has taken command of the empire’s forces. He commits them to conflicts he knows will fail, sacrificing thousands of soldiers to make Martok look incompetent.
Martok, a true Klingon, submits to the chancellor, but Worf is over it. He challenges Gowron to combat, and the two start smashing around. Gowron is formidable, even breaking Worf’s bat’leth in half. But he is also reckless, and he leaves himself open, Worf drives his broken blades into Gowron’s abdomen.
Collapsing, bug-eyed, Gowron’s last words are, “You will not have this day…” But of course Worf does have the day and makes Martok chancellor. Viewers everywhere cheer as harsh Klingon justice prevails and Gowron gets his long-overdue comeuppance.
