For three years Buffy secretly protected her classmates from all manner of evil, so when fellow student Jonathan is giving out awards at their Senior prom and asks the audience if she is there, we kind of knew where it was going. Reading out a speech about how weird stuff seems to always happen at Sunnydale high and how Buffy was always there to stop it was such a pivotal part of the show. Ending with “Buffy Summers, class protector”, Jonathans speech moved fans and critics alike and was such a sweet moment in arguably the show’s best season.

To see our heroine finally get some appreciation for all that she had sacrificed so far was immensely heart warming and we as an audience will never forget the look on Buffys face as she accepted the award. Hard work really does pay off.
