Another frequent complaint with Season 4 is how the writers dealt with Oz. Though he’s far from the most nuanced character in the show, it’s hard not to like this good-natured, straight-talking individual.

In ‘Wild at Heart’, Oz becomes friendly with Veruca, the lead singer of the band Shy. They share a love of music and soon strike up a close connection, much to Willow’s discontent. But this isn’t all they have in common. Like Oz, Veruca also happens to be a werewolf.

Their initial friendship blooms into romance as the episode progresses. Willow then catches her boyfriend red-handed as he continues to cheat on her with his new lover, and this is why Veruca is so easy to hate. Not only does she seduce a man who’s normally so noble, but she also brings emotional pain to one of the most beloved characters in Sunnydale.

As such, Veruca's death scene at the end of 'Wild at Heart' is immensely satisfying, particularly given that Oz is the one who kills her.
