10 Most Hated Parks And Recreation Episodes
7. Leslie's House (Season 2, Episode 14)
An audience needs to see their favorite characters struggle. If a protagonist is perfect, then the story is boring or predictable. They have to have faults and make mistakes, otherwise, who cares what happens? The audience wants a well-rounded character, but there is a line to what people want to see.
Throughout the series, Leslie is a confident and assertive person with the occasional freakout or misunderstanding. But in the episode “Leslie’s House,” we see one of the worst versions of Leslie in the entire series.
After telling a group of teachers at the Recreation Center that they have to cut five classes, she throws a party to impress a guy she likes. During the party, Leslie calls on the teachers to come and provide entertainment, but the teachers interpret this as having to compete for their jobs. This is, of course, an abuse of power, and Leslie has to come before a disciplinary committee.
While in most cases, audiences enjoy seeing a government official reprimanded for abusing their power, audiences don’t want to see Leslie acting in such a manner. Not just the misuse of her power, but to do so for some guy she barely knows. To see Leslie risk her career for one of Anne’s random friends is disappointing.
