4. Yantzee’s Son

Old Fry And Leela Futurama
20th Television

Moreso even than his parents, Fry's relationship with his brother Yantzee was always turbulent. So when Fry discovers that his brother stole his name, became a rockstar and the first person on Mars, he's irritated beyond belief. What really enrages him though is that Yantzee also stole Fry's lucky seven leaf clover. This leads him on a quest to their old house, before finally tracking down Yantzee's grave to dig it up.

It's here that he discovers the inscription on the grave. Here lies Phillip J. Fry. Named for his uncle, to carry on his spirit. It was never Yantzee. The reason he looked so much like Yantzee is because it was Yantzee's son, whom he named after his brother in tribute. A tearful Fry then lays the clover back in the grave, a wry smile appearing as he realises something he never knew; he was loved all along.

Fry was a loser in 1999 and seems to leave his life behind with relative ease. He has more friends, more job satisfaction and more self-worth in New New York. But back in 2000, everyone lost him. Everyone misses him, probably more than he misses them.
