10 Most Iconic Friends Moments Of All Time

Friends has too many memorable moments to count, but none better than these.

If you were asked to describe Friends in just one word, 'iconic' would be up there with the best of them. The beloved show that ran from 1994 to 2004 broke all kinds of records in the TV world, it is still a huge part of pop culture across multiple generations, and means so much to so many people.

Though it has been 17 years since the finale originally aired, no one has ever needed a reminder as to just how great the show was, but the recent reunion has certainly put the spotlight on Friends nostalgia, and there has never been a better time to look back over the incredible series.

The show followed six main characters that audiences genuinely connected with, and there are certain moments that are simply unforgettable, even to this day, from beautiful proposals all the way to the worst wedding mishaps imaginable.

Of course, through 236 episodes there are far more than just ten iconic moments, and there are some incredible scenes that miss out on being including in this list. The omission of some of these however, just goes to show quite how special the top ten moments truly are.

10. Smelly Cat

Phoebe Buffay's music was such a big part of who she was as a character, but it also played a big part in the series as a whole. She was always on stage in Central Perk singing her quirky yet loveable songs, but none ever quite reached the same level of infamy as Smelly Cat.

It's a simple song, but it represented so much more than that. The friends all sang it together, and there isn't a fan of the show that doesn't know the lyrics off by heart. The song just encompassed everything that was great about Phoebe.

It was funny, it was bizarre and random, and though most other musicians wouldn't have written such a song, Phoebe embraced it and so did the rest of the group, as well as everyone watching.

She was an advocate for the weird and the wonderful in Friends, and Smelly Cat was a big part of that. Lady Gaga was even brought in to duet the song with Lisa Kudrow on the reunion special, but there's no doubting that nothing will ever beat the original.
