Whenever Supernatural isn't getting your blood pumping or your heart stopping, it's making you work those tear ducts. Many moments throughout the show have tugged at your heartstrings, and this is one of the most memorable. But, while the acting, writing and direction are all amazing, it's the choice of song that really pushes it over the edge.

This scene comes from season two, episode seventeen, titled "Heart". During this chapter of the series, Sam developed a romantic relationship with a troubled woman who turned out to be a werewolf. Upon realising there was no cure, she asked him to take her life, as this sombre song played in the background.

"Silent Lucidity" takes the emotion of this scene and amplifies it perfectly. The gentleness of the guitar and the melancholy singing captures the incredibly macabre tone and paints an accurate picture of the heartbreak Sam is feeling.
