9. Death By Sunburn (Dragonfire)

We've all had those moments when we wished we'd put a bit of sunblock on before we ventured out into the summer sun and had to ruefully wince as we stepped gingerly into the bath for the next few days. However, in Doctor Who, sunburn can be a little more serious than that. Anyone who missed the Ark and was left stood there when the solar flares arrived would have had more than chapped skin to worry while the residents of Platform One almost came a cropper too. Time Lord adversaries the Vampires were best kept indoors. However, the most extreme and novel example in Doctor Who is giant Iceland - whoops! - Iceworld supremo Kane. As villains go, Kane was a bit rubbish, spending his days planning revenge for a planet that no longer existed while commissioning the galaxy's ropiest ice sculpture. Oh, and running a big frozen supermarket planet. However, his death more than made up for it, Captain Frosty opening his window to let the unfiltered sun melt his face off.
