This episode was a tale of two halves. The first half promised a taut, scary Alien-esque horror flick with monster spiders and a deserted moon base. The second half... had the moon revealed to be an egg. File that under things that can only happen in Doctor Who. Moon-eggs aside, it is undeniable that the episode gets off to a hot start. Clara addresses the citizens of the Earth about the impending crisis on the moon and mentions that the Doctor has disappeared, which is slightly problematic. The sequence brilliantly sets up the stakes for the rest of the episode, so it's a real shame that what followed could not live up to the intensity of this scene. Talk about putting all your moon eggs in one basket.
