8. Two Unfortunate Lovers
Just to prove that there would be no uncertainties in the 2017 series of Twin Peaks, the first episode kick-started a mystery involving a room, a camera, and a glass box, with an entire cosmos of madness attached.
The young dude whose job it was to watch the box, in case anything weird happened inside, seemed like a nice guy, not that we'd see any more of him past this episode. Whilst on the job, he invites a lady friend to watch the box alongside him, which results in the early stages of some innocent rumpy-pumpy.
It's at this point that a shimmering grey humanoid apparition appears inside the box, breaks free and proceeds to shred the poor couples' faces to bits. The later aftermath shot shows the extent of the carnage. Their heads are pretty much missing, and it's a misconception to think that they died happy.
Furthermore, if you think some easy resolve comes as to what the apparition actually was, think again! Like most things in Twin Peaks: The Return, it's open to extensive speculation.
