10 Most Outrageous Stories Revealed On The Graham Norton Show
6. Ian McKellen - Adventures At Buckingham Palace
It seems that every time beloved actor Ian McKellen goes to visit the Queen, something extraordinary happens. There’s when he got his knighthood of course but Sir Ian was more than happy to regale Graham with what happened some of the other times.
On one occasion, he and Dame Judi Dench wandered off from a fancy party and sat in the Queen and Prince Phillip’s chairs, no doubt committing treason according to some ancient document.
Ian then went on to tell of another time where he was put in a room right next to the famous Buckingham balcony, where generations of British monarchs have stood and waved to crowds of cheering subject. So, his first instinct was, of course, to sneak outside and have a sneaky cigarette break.
He was immediately caught by a searchlight shining on him from below and a very annoyed policeman telling him to put that light out because he was at Buckingham Palace, lest he forget.
It looks as though even Gandalf has to submit to certain higher authorities.
