7. Storyteller (Season 7, Episode 16)
Season 7 is an interesting one. Whilst there are no outright disasters, some find the middle of the season a bit of a slog. This is understandable – the Potential Slayers storyline does drag at times – but there are still plenty of great moments.
‘Storyteller’ is often cited as one of the best episodes in Buffy’s final season due to its unique concept. The story centres around Andrew as he captures the gang’s movements through the lens of his video camera. We get an insight into Andrew’s bizarre view of the world, and there’s lots of humour as well.
Though Andrew is given some much-needed development, he’s still pretty annoying. There’s just no escaping the fact his childlike persona feels out of place in one of the show’s darkest seasons.
When you compare it to some of the other unique episodes – such as ‘Once More, With Feeling’, ‘Hush’, and ‘The Wish’ – ‘Storyteller’ is a bit of a letdown.
