10 Most Overrated Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episodes

‘Prophecy Girl’ is another standout in Season 1. There’s some terrific dialogue in this episode. Xander’s exchange with Buffy captures the awkward essence of high school crushes, and the build-up to Buffy’s confrontation with the Master is also well-executed.

But like ‘Angel’, this episode is often given more credit than it deserves simply because the rest of the season is a bit patchy.

Both of Buffy’s confrontations with the Master fall flat. The first one just involves a prowl around the Master’s lair without much action, and the second one is let down by some daft dialogue: ‘I may be dead, but I’m still pretty.’

Compared with some of the other season finales, this episode is pretty forgettable. Despite being one of the best episodes in Season 1, ‘Prophecy Girl’ is far from perfection.
