10 Most Paused Doctor Who Moments Ever

1. Doctors... Assemble! (The Day Of The Doctor)

As we mentioned, The Day Of The Doctor is full to the brim with pause-worthy moments, and the granddaddy, the king, nay, the overlord of these moments is the episode's final scene, in which all twelve Doctors - the twelve that had been established at the time - assemble in a truly epic wide shot.

Now sure, the majority of the original actors weren't used, and the special effects are a tad wonky (seriously, what's up with McGann's face?), but considering how rare multi-Doctor stories are, it was an amazing sight to see every single Doctor stood side-by-side on a cloud. The image instantly became iconic, and yes, heavily paused.

It's fun to zoom in and check out the expressions on each Doctor's face or the details of their costumes, imagining what they'd say to each other if they actually met for real. Seven and Nine? What a combo. Six and Eight? Now that would be interesting.

Above all else though, the sheer nostalgia of sitting back and reflecting on the incredible history of the show is something that many Who fans have probably done with this image over the last seven years.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
