7. Maggie's Price - The Simpsons

You won't find an opening titles sequence more iconic than that of The Simpsons, which is practically burned into the long-term memory of anyone who grew up in the '90s.

The elaborate intro sequence also begged viewers to take a closer look, particularly when Maggie is accidentally scanned through the supermarket checkout and a price is displayed on the till.

Curious viewers - that is, all of us - found the price to be $847.63, which according to Matt Groening was the average per-month cost of raising a child in the U.S. in 1989, the year the show launched.

Fans who hadn't yet checked out the Easter egg were sent back in droves after season seven's "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular" jokingly claimed that the till actually read "NRA4EVER," and was "just one of the hundreds of radical, right-wing messages inserted into every show by creator Matt Groening."

In more recent episodes the price was changed to double from $243.26 to $486.52, while season 15's "Treehouse of Horror XIV" quite appropriately showed Maggie costing 666.
