6. The Final Shot - The Sopranos

Starbucks Game Of Thrones
HBO

Perhaps no final shot in TV history has been as fiercely dissected and debated as The Sopranos'.

The series finale infamously ended by leaving Tony Soprano's (James Gandolfini) fate in limbo, cutting suddenly to black and inviting passionate debate about what exactly just happened.

To many, the cut to black implied that Tony had been fatally shot while eating out with his family - calling back to a conversation he had with Bobby Baccalieri (Steve Schirripa) earlier in the season - while others felt it simply suggested Tony would be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life.

The scene as a whole has been sifted through with a fine tooth comb by fans looking for clues, but the final shot in particular has been analysed to death, especially as many believe Tony may be reaching for a gun in the final frames of the episode.

Whatever your own opinion, the still image of Tony looking up at the door as Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) or potentially an assassin enters the restaurant is absolutely iconic and unforgettable.
