1. The Shadow/The Cosmic Entity
Back in Season 13 we didn’t know too much about The Shadow, though what we did know back then was enough alone to make it onto this list.
From Castiel’s first meeting with this ‘friendly, neighbourhood cosmic entity’, it revealed that The Shadow controlled the Empty - a realm where not even God had jurisdiction!
With such a bold claim, it seemed trivial that the creature was able to strike Castiel down and choose to send him back to Earth. And given that The Empty existed before everything - even before God and Amara - it could be assumed that The Shadow is the oldest entity in existence.
In Season 14, we learned more of The Shadow’s powers as it was able to easily storm heaven in search of Jack Kline, defeating multiple angels and even possessing them. After all is said and done, this all-powerful entity easily managed to restore the angels as if nothing ever happened.
Scarily, we only ever see a portion of The Shadow’s powers, though its true potential remains forever a mystery - which serves to make this an even more frightening proposition.
