10 Most Powerful Villains In Star Trek History
4. The V'Ger
The concept of rogue technology threatening life as we know it is a common thread in Star Trek, reaching back as far as the original series, with villains like Nomad and the genetically engineered Augments reminding us of the potential danger that scientific advancement provides.
The V'Ger is perhaps the best example of this, as the villain of first Star Trek film began as a simple probe that would be transported by a black hole to another quadrant of the galaxy, where it would be found by a race of sentient machines who would take pity of the comparatively primal device, and turn it into a similarly space-age cognizant machine.
This in mind, the V'Ger becomes a powerhouse of modern technology, with profound capabilities in both its defensive and offensive capabilities. Unfortunately, these advancements are also what make it a problem, as they give the robot the ability to wipe the Earth itself out - and the misguided notion that it should.
