10 Most Powerful Weapons In Star Trek

2. Vidiian Organ Harvester

The Vidiians are a tragic race. For centuries, they excelled at both art and science. According to Dr. Danara Pel, they were once a peaceful species who never sought battle with anyone. Then the Phage came roughly 2,000 years before they were encountered by Voyager and their existence splintered.

The disease destroyed their DNA, flesh, and organs. Every single Vidiian was afflicted with the illness, so the grim decision was made to continue their race by any means necessary. Thus, the Organ Harvester was invented. This gruesome weapon could fire like a standard phaser, yet its beam could also serve to extract the victim's internal organs.

It would then store the organs in suspended animation for a short time before they could be implanted in a new host. The process was irreversible and more often than not, deadly. Neelix was the first member of Voyager's crew to run afoul of this as both of his lungs were stolen by a Vidiian scientist. On that occasion, despite everything, that same scientist was able to help Neelix, in a way, by transferring one of Kes's lungs to him by using this weapon.

On another occasion, none of Voyager's crew fared so well. The ship was overrun and almost every crewmember fell victim to these devices. Only Harry Kim and Naomi Wildman were saved, though even that was by evading the Vidiians, rather than fighting.
