10 Most Powerful Weapons In The Stargate Universe

8. Mark IX “Gate Buster”

As mentioned in the last entry, destroying a Stargate is no easy task. Stargates are incredibly well-made, with most being at least 50,000,000-years-old, so they were built to last. Still, they can be destroyed, but doing so requires a massive influx of energy, which humans managed to create with a giant explosion.

Of course, this meant nukes, but a single nuclear weapon isn't good enough to take out a gate. Instead, something more is required: A Mark IV naquadria-enhanced nuclear bomb, better known as a "gate buster," best described by Cameron Mitchell:

Designed solely for the purpose of vaporizing Stargates and anything else in a one-hundred-mile radius. Now we have a number of these god-awful things at our disposal, and we will not hesitate to use them.

Thanks to the infusion of naquadria, the Mark IX has a yield of between 200 and 2,000 gigatons, making it insanely destructive. Because of this, the Mark IV isn't just a "gate buster," it's also a "Supergate buster."

To destroy the Ori Supergate, the Daedalus placed one behind the gate over a black hole. The detonation was successful, and the Supergate was completely annihilated. The bombs were later used to destroy large areas of the Asuran's planet.
