10 Most Re-Watchable Star Trek Episodes

1. Yesterday's Enterprise

Star Trek The Next Generation Yesterdays Enterprise
CBS

This is quite simply one of the best episodes of Star Trek, hands down. The reason behind this is not just the fact that everyone involved brings their best to the show, but it also widens the Star Trek lore with the arrival of the Enterprise-C, it gives a proper send-off for Tasha Yar, it brings several timelines together and it also goes one step further to offering a 'there but for the grace of God' version of Federation-Klingon relations.

The episode is, technically (and literally, with the lighting choices) a dark one, yet it never truly feels oppressive. David Carson directed this installment and he would return for both Emissary and Star Trek: Generations off the back of this, with his signature look all over both.

The Ambassador class ship is another beauty. It is fun to note that Carson directed the first appearances of both the Enterprises C and B, in reverse order!

Everything works here. The crew is great, the stakes are sufficiently high, reason still wins out in a time of war and the family feels complete. Denise Crosby shines as Tasha, getting enough to do to give the character the closure that she deserved back in the first season.

While there are nearly 800 episodes of Star Trek at this point, when it comes to which one this writer will watch on repeat?

Let's make sure history never forgets the name... Enterprise.
