Horror fans, as a general rule, are an incredibly loyal bunch. They hold conventions, they will see every movie a favourite actor makes, and they hold their favourite directors in extremely high regard.

The central concept of Masters of Horror is a simple but effective one; put together by Mick Garris (adaptor of many Stephen King works as well as many other movies), Masters of Horror is an anthology series with each individual episode functioning as effectively a mini-movie. Each story is helmed by a legendary horror director including entries in the series from the likes of Stuart Gordon, John Carpenter and Takashi Miike.

Much like The Twilight Zone, Masters of Horror benefits from the fact it can be watched in any order or favoured episodes can be viewed in isolation. It’s a shame that the series only ran for two seasons however those two seasons gave us some fantastic work from some directors who hadn’t released anything for quite a while.
