10 Most Rewatchable TV Shows Of All Time
7. The Wire
Dramas tend not to stand up to rewatches as well as comedies do - once you know how it’s all going to unfold, some of the fun is taken away, and it’s harder to dip in and out with a continuous narrative. The Wire is a different story, though, because of the sheer density of its story and characters.
It can be an overwhelming show on first watch - names, faces, and events come at you thick and fast, and it tends to take a few episodes before you’ve settled into the world of Baltimore. On further watches, though, there are no such issues, and with this familiarity, you’re guaranteed to catch things you missed the first time.
The Wire is a show that rewards further watches, as long time viewers are paid off with reappearances of characters from previous seasons, as well as lines which are echoed and repeated across the years. Much of this can pass you by the first time through - it’s a show made to be binged on.
It’s a serious undertaking to get through all five seasons of this cop masterpiece, but well worth your while.
