Roy Petty hasn't been shy about breaking the law during this investigation. First, he exploited Rachel's drug problem and forced her to spy for him. Then, he initiated a romantic relationship with Russ and manipulated him into becoming an informant before he died.

Cade discovers all of this and decides to volunteer to become an informant for Roy in an attempt to gain some favor with the law, and approaches him while he's out fishing. Unfortunately for him, Roy isn't interested even though Cade believes he owes him for everything he put his family through.

Roy begins to insult Cade and his family, saying he's desperate, he'll be back in prison in a month and his trailer trash daughter would be right behind him. Next, he starts to say how Russ deserved a better family, but Cade attacks him in a rage before he can finish.

He savagely swings a tackle box and hits Roy in the head leaving him dazed and bloodied. Realizing he now must finish the job, Cade repeatedly strikes Roy with the box before dumping his body into the water and just that quick one of the biggest antagonists on the show is dead.
