Every Star Trek fan loves a Q episode, because they're usually part high stakes, part complete hilarity and a whole lotta fun. In this episode, the crew of Voyager are introduced to the teenage son of Q, Junior. Junior is the epitome of a teenager with the added "bonus" of omnipotence. The problems that go along with this combination lead Q to leave him mortal and stuck on Voyager to learn to be a "true Q".

After a bad start, Junior begins to take his tasks seriously and makes great progress until a visit from Q leaves him feeling hopeless and inadequate. This then leads to Junior taking actions that result in Icheb being badly injured during an encounter with an alien ship. When Junior attempts to set things straight with the alien, it is revealed the alien was in fact Q in disguise.

Q explains that he wanted to teach his son a lesson and that he had passed the test. The reveal comes out of left field and the audience are left shocked and shaking their heads at Q's questionable parenting tactics.

The story goes from being a traditional journey for a teenager from youthful delinquent to upstanding citizen to one with an added twist of Q...ness... It's a twist on the all too familiar story that keeps it fresh and gives it the Star Trek spice.
