The CW superhero shows are a collection of cheap-looking comic-book material, but are an entertaining ride if you want an alternative fix for your comic-book characters.

Within the roster of this series was the impressive series Black Lighting, which told the story of Jefferson Pierce, a school principle which came out of retirement as the electrical superhero Black Lightning.

The show was enjoyable and had a strong fanbase of followers who loved the fun tone and focus on African-American heroism. It had a unique place within the superhero world and ran for three seasons with a fourth pending, but the CW announced in 2020 that season four would be it's last, as they wouldn't be renewing it for another go.

Fans were distraught at this news, as the series still had plenty of potential to go further. Things were worsened when it was announced that the side character Painkiller would be getting a spin-off, forcing fans to question why the network chose to cancel the show if they still had faith in the property.

Viewers can still look forward to seeing the show end with its fourth season, but it's still a shame that the show will no longer continue afterwards.
