10 Most Trippy Star Trek Scenes

3. Flower Power Picard

Trippy 2 Kirk Motion Picture Star Trek
CBS

Truly taking the concept of flower-power to new heights, let's step into more recent Star Trek history with the finale of Picard's first season.

One could have been forgiven for expecting a truly epic sci-fi battle to end all the ages however alongside the now infamous Copy and Paste Fleet, the android planet unleashes its most destructive force to stop the advance of, first Picard and later, the Romulans.

Their super weapon - space orchids.

Now put into perspective that this is 2020 and viewers might have to wonder what's happened. Has the writers' room travelled back into the 1960s and sampled some of their questionable cuisine?

That's likely doubtful but to provide a planet of androids with a floral defence force is just...odd. It's not a visual tripping out in the sense that the viewer is really considering what visuals are hitting their eyes, or sounds reaching their eardrums, but just the concept of a floral weapon screams out true flower power.

When compared to the android inhabitants on the planet below it sort of makes sense that such a peace loving society would have such materials as their weapons.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
