10 Most Underappreciated Seasons Of Cult-Favourite TV Shows

8. Series 4 - Misfits

After losing almost all of its original characters, many cast doubt over whether Misfits could survive without its lovable gang of community-service superheroes, and the show's ratings began to steadily decline. This sucks because series four of Misfits deserves a lot of credit for being a successful revamp of the show's format that didn't simply wallow in what had come before.

As opposed to a filthy superhero romp like before, the show became more of a contemporary black-comedy farce, looking at the various sexual misadventures and mishaps of a new band of delinquents. All of whom still had superpowers, albeit very crap ones, but their status as 'superheroes' was pushed aside in favour of telling stories that focused on grossly exaggerated modern problems.

The character's powers were so useless that they go most of the season without using them, with only the antagonists of each episode showing any flair with their abilities. This change of pace definitely wasn't for everyone, and the departure of much-loved characters like Kelly and Simon left many wondering why the show was still on the air.

All that said though, series four of Misfits is a brilliantly filthy and raucous good-time that's well worth your time.
