10 Most Underrated Actresses Currently Working In Television

These ladies deserve more love.

Orphan Black Helena
BBC America

Although the Golden Age of Television is still in full swing, it would appear that not everyone is earning their deserved reputations for constantly knocking it out of the park on their respective shows. Then again, with such an abundance of outstanding programming, it makes sense that some performances simply get lost in the shuffle.

Still, it's unfortunate that some of the greatest actresses currently giving some of the most dynamic and all-around brilliant performances inside that little box of yours remain unknown or unappreciated.

But even in TV shows that seem to have the entire world's attention, some actresses just don't get the recognition they deserve, despite the fact that they give consistently excellent performances

In this list you'll find 10 incredibly solid reasons why we shouldn't rely on ratings and awards to determine which actresses currently working on television deserve more of your attention.

10. Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls: Seasons)

Orphan Black Helena
Warner Bros Television

Her role as the mom we all wish we had on Gilmore Girls is enough to justify her place on this list, but she also brought her pitch-perfect quirky-but-not-annoying-in-that-Zooey-Deschanel-way brand of humor/mothering to the stunningly under-appreciated Parenthood.

Just because Lauren Graham is known for her levity, that doesn't mean she can't get serious when she needs to. In fact, it's this more dramatic side of her talent that doesn't get recognized enough.

Whether she's arguing with one of her fictional daughters or defending herself against a fictional boyfriend's tirade, Graham has one of the most natural deliveries of anyone currently working in the industry. Particularly in her portrayal of Lorelai Gilmore, it would be easy to have such rapid-fire, intricately-worded monologues come off a bit too forced, especially when the emphasis isn't on delivering a punchline. But Graham makes it seem effortless and, most of all, genuine.

Whether or not the short order of new Gilmore Girls episodes for Netflix expands into another full season later on, we should all be happy to have the coolest fictional mom on the planet back in our lives, however briefly.
