Given how many deaths there were in Game of Thrones, too many have been wrongly overlooked…

Game of Thrones was infamous for the amount of major characters that died over the course of its eight seasons. Even those who did not watch the show were aware of its brutal reputation.

The first shocking death was undoubtedly Eddard Stark in the penultimate episode of Season 1, and the producers only continued to kill off more key characters as the show continued.

Given such bloodshed, there are plenty of deaths that haven't received enough praise. Indeed, many peripheral characters had some fantastic death scenes simply due to great dialogue and performances.

What’s more, given the patchy quality of Season 8, there were a number of minor characters in earlier seasons who had better death scenes than many of the major characters did in the final season.

Consequently, it’s time to give some overdue credit to the most underrated deaths in Game of Thrones...

10. Tyene Sand

The Dorne storyline in the fifth season was undoubtedly one of the weaker moments in Game of Thrones, and as such, many of the characters involved were not particularly popular amongst fans of the show.

Tyene Sand was no exception. Even with her entertaining combat skills, she was not an overly memorable character. Nevertheless, her death certainly was memorable, and much of this was due to Lena Headey’s performance as Cersei.

Following Euron Greyjoy’s attack, both Tyene and Ellaria (her mother) were taken to King’s Landing. Rather than kill them both quickly, Cersei chose to murder Tyene in the same way that Ellaria had murdered Myrcella – by using a poison named Long Farewell. Before poisoning Tyene, Cersei mocked her captives in a sadistic manner. Indeed, she delighted in telling Ellaria that her daughter would die and decay in front of her.

Despite the fact that Tyene was a relatively peripheral character, therefore, her death was brutally entertaining thanks to a wicked performance from Headey.
