10 Most Underrated Performances In Game Of Thrones
2. Pedro Pascal - Oberyn Martell
Oberyn Martell was only featured in seven episodes before meeting his bloody end at the hands of the Mountain. However, Pascal still managed to make his character a highly distinctive presence in the show’s fourth season.
From his superb accent to his effortless body language, Pascal was one of the few actors who was able to match Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) whenever the two of them had a scene together. His exchanges with Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister) were also some of the best moments of Season 4.
As devastating as Oberyn’s death was, it was still great to hear his lengthy monologue during which he let out his anger at both the Mountain and Tywin due to what they had done to his sister.
Moreover, Pascal was somehow able to elevate his character beyond Martin’s original depiction. Possibly due to the fact that he was not a POV character, the version of Oberyn presented in the books feels underwhelming after having seen Pascal’s excellent performance.
