10 Most Underrated Sci-Fi/Fantasy Shows

6. Marvel's Runaways

What ropes in viewers even better than magical/super powered heroes? Teenage magical/super powered heroes. Another case of slightly lesser known Marvel comic characters to get the live action treatment in recent years, Runaways provided an excellent blend of naïve emotions and the need to rise to the situation, as its teen protagonists get thrust into a situation where they must show wisdom, and strength, beyond their years.

The spotlight here is on seven kids, once good friends but now drifted apart following the death of one of their siblings. However, a meeting of their parents’ group, the Pride, manages to bring them all together in one place. There, things start to take a rather wild turn as one by one they discover their superpowers.

Eventually they stumble into a secret chamber where they witness the horrific sight of their parents sacrificing a young girl. This kicks off the main story as the kids flee from their murderous parents, becoming the titular runaways. For a show involving kids as the main characters, the story did not feel lacking in any element and proved a more than worthy addition to the Marvel fan’s viewing calendar.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
