Part scornful teacher, part sexual predator, Edna Krabappel lived a varied life in Springfield. Once a high-flying student with lofty ideals, she chose teaching to pass on her knowledge to future generations. This all changed when she met Bart Simpson of course - that and her husband divorcing her for the marriage councillor.

She spent the rest of her teaching career locked in a battle for supremacy with her ten year old students. Her favoured methods were laughing in the children's faces and sending them to detention, though she would occasionally stretch to cannibalising them.

A staple of the Springfield dating scene, Edna had relationships with Seymour Skinner and even murderous psychopath Sideshow Bob. Before her untimely death in 2013, she had finally found love in Ned Flanders. Unfortunately it wasn't to last.

The passing of voice actress Marcia Wallace resulted in the retirement of this character. While not a major character on the show, Edna K got a touching send off, with Bart writing 'We'll really miss you Mrs K' on the board in the opening credits.
