10 Most Underrated Simpsons Characters

7. Reverend Lovejoy

The Simpsons Hans Moleman Kiss
Fox

Timothy Lovejoy was not always a dour, monotone reverend who cared less about his congregation than he did about his model train set. No, he arrived in Springfield full of idealism and good intentions; he would be a man of God and a man of the people. That was until he met Ned Flanders.

Now he spends his time straight-batting Flanders' problems in the hope of just one moment's piece. The list of Flanders' inquiries is endless, and it's this that might contribute to his occasionally wavering faith in the Lord. In one episode he tore off his dog-collar after experiencing a close encounter with a UFO (although he did hastily replace it once he realised it was a fake).

Similar to Dr Hibbert, Rev. Lovejoy is a frequently occurring character who is a little neglected by fans. Whether this is because of a lack of love for his core religious beliefs is difficult to say. For all the episodes he's appeared in, he certainly hasn't featured in enough storylines.
